Caution! Construction in Progress!

A lot has happened with the house...finally!! We are officially a construction site. I know it will get worse, but considering all the delays it is exciting to see all the little details starting to come together. Since my last post, the builders have put in the stem wall and plumbing and spent most of the rest of the week preparing the ground for the foundation to be poured...oh yeah...and getting more inspections. Boy oh boy does the county like doing inspections...EVERYTHING requires an inspection...and thus more money! They brought in 4 dump truck loads of dirt to level everything out and to raise the ground at the back of the house so it will be level with the current house. Rylee LOVED the dirt!! They then covered all the dirt with some type of plastic (sp? Visquene) and then put in rebar and a metal lattice work to prepare for the foundation to be poured TOMORROW!! Yipee!! Wouldn't you know it, though, it is supposed to rain. Damon says they can pour concrete in the rain as long as it isn't too bad...we'll see. I'm expecting 'too bad'!

I must say though that I am really amazed by this whole construction thing and we are barely even started. No disrespect to those in the construction business, but in appearance most construction workers don't appear all that 'put together'...if you know what I mean. In watching them actually starting to build, it is a fine tuned process and requires a great deal of know how! You can check out the current progress in my construction slide show at the bottom of my page. I plan to update pictures more frequently now.
